Celebrating Aunty Nancy
On September 14, family, friends, and loved ones gathered at KAPA Farm for a heartfelt dedication ceremony in memory of Aunty Nancy, the beloved sister of David Fuertes. This special event marked the one-year anniversary of her passing, celebrating her life, legacy, and the lasting impact she had on those who knew her.
A Garden of Remembrance
In honor of Aunty Nancy, David created a beautiful flower garden, a living tribute that reflects her deep passion and expertise in lei making. The dedication took place at KAPA Farm. Surrounded by ʻohana and friends, those in attendance shared memories, stories, and gratitude for Aunty Nancy’s life.
Her incredible skill and dedication as a Lei Artist were captured in this video tribute:

Aunty Nancy Lei Aloha Garden was selected by BEHawaiʻi Lei Poinaʻole Project (LPP) as its first Hawaiʻi Island lei plant propagation site. LPP’s mission is to “cherish the heart of lei-giving and uplift our local industry, ensuring Hawaiʻi's iconic lei traditions endure and the people who embody them are always remembered.”
As we reflect on this special dedication, we are reminded that true aloha never fades—it lives in the hearts of those who carry it forward.
